VOIP
Voice Over Internet Protocol
voip

By now, you have probably heard the new buzzword, VOIP. With high-speed Internet in homes, businesses, hospitals, shopping centers and just about every McDonalds on just about every corner, it was only a matter of time before people started using the computer's Internet connection for instant communication. If you are new to VOIP, take a moment to read a rather detailed explanation of VOIP technical features at HowStuffWorks.com. Be sure to come back and continue reading here for an explanation of our VOIP services.

In short, VOIP allows you to make phone calls without a telephone company's hardware and the sometimes inexplicably high calling plan. With VOIP, you can make very cheap and in some cases, free phone calls using your existing broadband connection.

Of course, as the popularity of VOIP increases, companies like Vonage and AT&T will find ways to monetize all aspects of VOIP and regulators will continue looking closely at this as an alternative utility. Until then, VOIP remains one of the least expensive ways to set up a phone system in your home or place of business. While VOIP is increasing in popularity for both personal and business use, you may still need assistance in navigating the sea of hardware choices, plan options and providers.

  • At TheraP.C., we can consult with you on your phone systems usage, design, set-up, installation and where necessary, maintenance.
  • If you have an existing standard analog system, we can transition it to VOIP or create in a hybrid system. A free consultation will help determine the best system for your needs.
  • While VOIP is increasing in popularity for both personal and business use, you may still need assistance in navigating the sea of hardware choices, plan options and providers. If you have no broadband connection, we can assist with that as well. Although TheraP.C. does not provide broadband Internet, we can get you setup with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) including the hardware and software you need. Then, we can design and install your VOIP telephone system according to your needs. Click here to read more about our networking services.
  • We also design and install PBX (Private Branch Exchange) systems that can be used as either VOIP or standard analog (POTS). A PBX is a telephone switching technology that connects a company‚Äôs internal phone users to each other and to the public phone system. This is what enables the use of phone extensions within a company.
